Job Title:Hosted Buyer Programme Manager

Reports to: Project Manager – CIBTM with a dotted line to the Manager, Hosted Buyer Programmes IBTM

Based at: Beijing, China

Team Structure: The Hosted Buyer team is part of the IBTM events portfolio team.

The role encompasses direct line management of 1 X Beijing based FTC Hosted Buyer Co-ordinator for CIBTM as directed

Job Purpose: Responsible for the Hosted Buyer Programme strategy and implementation for CIBTM and supporting other IBTM events such as EIBTM and AIME as required.

Scope: Direct responsibility for the delivery of the CIBTM Hosted Buyer Programme, specific CIBTM tasks and supporting the development of the Hosted Buyer Programmes across the IBTM Events Portfolio


Key Responsibilities:

Production of the Hosted Buyer Strategy in line with CIBTM’s objectives and in conjunction with the Manager, Hosted Buyer Programmes and Project Manager CIBTM

Implementation of the CIBTM strategy including business development, research and buyer quality with the CIBTM team

Developing and evolving the Hosted Buyer Programme at CIBTM to improve participant experience, e.g. CIBTM HB Social Club. 

Management of the CIBTM Hosted Buyer budget

Direct line management of the FTC Hosted Buyer Co-ordinator including workload allocation

Creation and management of the CIBTM Hosted Buyer recruitment campaigns involving the sourcing and securing of third party group co-ordinators domestically and internationally

Day to day management of the Hosted Buyer supply chain, including host hotels, DMC, airlines, appointed travel company and software supplier.

Setting up the CIBTM online systems, required to facilitate on-line registrations, qualification, appointment matching and travel.

Specific IBTM portfolio tasks as determined by the Manager HB Programmes including support to IBTM Talks.

Coaching and mentoring FTC Hosted Buyer Co-ordinator to deliver CIBTM strategy

Close liaison with sales, marketing and senior management colleagues in China and overseas and provide insights on Chinese hosted buyers and MICE market.

Production and presentation of weekly, monthly and other regular management reports

Regular attendance at industry events, face to face meetings throughout China and further afield to promote the brand, establish contacts and recruit Hosted Buyers onto the programme.



Ideal candidate profile:

·Proven and effective planning and organization skills within an event management environment.

·Leadership and management skills to ensure the team achieves quantitative targets and quality standards

·High level communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. 

·A pro-active, solution orientated approach to problem solving

·Ability to see the bigger picture and link activities between teams

·Ability to produce and present complex and high level management data.

·Capacity to manage a heavy workload while maintaining attention to detail.

·An aptitude for databases and process management

·Focus on providing excellent customer service in a high volume environment

·Knowledge and experience of working within MICE and Travel markets would be advantageous.

Degree educated and fluent Chinese and English languages essential.
